MANAGEMENT TEAM

Each Division of the SRC is led by a Manager that is supported by Team Leaders and a cadre of competent, technical and administrative staff. The Management Team embraces the principles of transformational leadership and quality management systems.

Dr. Chadwick Anderson - Executive Director - A graduate of the University of the West Indies, Dr. Anderson earned a B.Sc. in Food Chemistry followed by a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry. His work among other things centered on substances of interest in endemic Jamaican plants. A scholarship awardee of Tanaud International B.V. (a division of Shire Pharmaceuticals) he subsequently worked with the company as a Senior Research Scientist, leading a team in designing and synthesizing compounds towards the treatment of ailments of the central nervous system.

As an employee of a multi-national company, Dr. Anderson attended a number of international conferences and training programmes over the years, and interacted with scientists across many disciplines. This has provided him with broad experience in a wide range of areas. He is a past President of the UWI Chemical Society and a present member of the American Chemical Society, and the Caribbean Academy of Sciences. He was a delegate representing Jamaica at the General Assembly of the International Council for Science held in Mozambique in 2008.

SRC is Jamaica’s principal public sector agency responsible for fostering and coordinating scientific research and the promotion and application of its results to impact socio-economic growth and development. Dr. Anderson’s role as Executive Director includes harnessing resources, promoting the optimization of the development and application of Science and Technology through technology transfer for commercialization; facilitating access to appropriate technologies and forging strategic alliances to enable sustainable national growth and development.

Dr. Anderson, who previously served on the Board of the SRC, currently serves on the Board of the Heart Trust NTA and is a member of its Human Resource Subcommittee and its Pension Fund Board. A devoted family man, he is married with one child, and is a Deacon at the Mona Baptist Church. He enjoys backyard farming and reading in his spare time.
